8/10/2018:England Squash Senior Closed

This year it will be held on 3rd/4th November at Liverpool Cricket Club.

Once again, it would be great to see everyone supporting this event which should not be viewed as something that club players shouldn't enter.
If you would be up for playing 3-4 tough games of squash over the weekend, this tournament would be perfect for you.
The more entries we get, the more chance people are of getting more decent matches. With graded events for different standards. I would also encourage our older juniors to get involved to gain tournament experience and help with their transition to team squash.

If club captains could please circulate to all your team members.
If County captains could also encourage all their team/potential team members to enter. As is the nature of the modern world, I very rarely receive any physical entry forms so will not be sending out entry forms this year. If you would like to enter just e-mail/text me with your name and the category you would like to enter.

21/9/2018:England Squash has today announced a collaborative new partnership with UK Racketball that will see the two organisations work in unison to develop and grow Squash 57 across the country.

The partnership will see England Squash and UK Racketball work together to raise the profile of the sport, deliver coaching courses and participation programmes, and increase the number of people playing recreationally and competitively. The two organisations will collaborate to improve the quality and consistency of information and support offered to clubs, event organisers and players.

The entries for junior, senior and masters inter counties are now open. This year after discussions with the board and feedback from counties we have made some key updates to the structure of all ICC competitions. These updates and links to entries can be found in full via each distinct page on the website:

The major changes are:

Seniors Division One and Two are now merged
Stage I for all categories will be played out in centralised venues based on region instead of all at separate clubs
Winners from Stage I seniors will play on the finals weekend alongside the premier division in a promotion tournament
Team payment of £50 which contributes towards the cost of hosting the event and evenly distributes the cost of the event throughout the counties
Squash 57 championships are to be confirmed at a later date with entries to be released soon.

The 2018 UK-Racketball Series has become the biggest yet with 10 tournaments booked into this years calendar.

The UK-Racketball Series 2015 Information
The northern venues have moved to two new centres for the Series at Wakefield and Hallamshire Tennis and Squash Club. Wakefield has been brought to us by long standing Series supporter Andy Wood. The club has four courts, three of which are glass backs and is well located near the M1. Hallamshire is one of the premier racketball centers in the UK with a fantastic racketball junior set up and long established racketball summer league. We hope that these two Yorkshire venues will be great new additions to the Series.
The major change to the UK-Racketball Series this year will be the way that the tournaments are operated, see below the list of dates and venues for more information. Or follow this link to the new UK-Racketball Website.

Northern Crosby Receives Gold Clubmark Award

After the culmination of a lot of hard work The Northern Club in Crosby was this month able to attain the Gold Clubmark award, the highest award of its kind.

The Northern in Crosby have been part of the Clubmark scheme for the last six years and had previously held the Silver Clubmark award during that time.

When the time came to be re-accredited Jim Foggit of the club took on the task this time with the aim of surpassing the previous year’s award and has been working with the ESR regional office to make the necessary final improvements to obtain the extra few points they required to gain the coveted Gold Award.

Crosby Court Challenge

The Parkwood Crosby Leisure Centre Court Challenge took place this last Saturday 10th November 2012, thrilling spectators with a dazzling display of skill, determination and sportsmanship. The challenge was set up as a round robin which ensured each of the participants had more than the minimum 3 guaranteed games. The 2 undergraduates Matt Davies (UCLN and The Northern Crosby) and Mike Lowery (Manchester Met and Workington) looked hot favourites in the early games but the twins from West Lancs Sam and Ben Fletcher showed they could keep up with the pace and skill. Matty Harrington (West Lancs) at just 18 years old was also able to put on a great performance. The two local brothers Nino and Tano Carubia both very keen squash players showed that playing against coached youngsters was a fun and enjoyable experience, Nino and Tano have been playing for 2 years. Mike Lowery won the Challenge but the match for 2nd and 3rd proved to be the most exciting – Ben playing Matt lost 1-2 which resulted in a tie for second place. The winner Mike said. “I had no idea the competition would be so strong. The courts, staff and facility and the Challenge was superb. The Court Challenge Series offers all players of all abilities aged the opportunity to play in a squash competition. +National Club Championships 2013

This competition is open to any affiliated club in the land and there is no set standard.
Draws are usually played as a Knockout with a plate, but depending on entries some may be ran as group stages. Where possible we do regionalise as much as possible to keep travelling to a minimum. Obviously when the competition progresses you may find clubs travelling a fair distance to contest a match, however the regulations do state that neutral venues can be used at a halfway point.
Entries close Friday 14 Sept.!
Teams that have WON their Premier County League (or equivalent if no premier division) get a FREE entry!
